Ha ha, Mary! Potatoes are my crack, too. Actually my mom and I refer to Crinkle Cut Kettle Salt & Fresh-Ground Pepper potato chips as crack. “Mom, I’m going to go buy some crack.”

LEEKS! me love leeks!! I’m so excited to make this tasty-looking (and really economical!) soup! And I LOVE the idea of Garbage broth. Usually I throw all those veggie scraps into my compost pile. “Compost broth” might be a more appealing name!

Having a batch of that broth in the freezer is a great winter idea. then soup is at hand ALL the time!

(my favorite part of this video, aside from the hat, is when you let out a Homer-style involuntary yummy-sound after suggesting adding sour cream!)

@Jen I used to leave the skins on, but if I do my picky eater hubby won’t eat the soup. So now I just make them into broth, and he eats that.

@David actually I’m about to set up a cooking vlog – it won’t be a regular show, more like “Ryanne Refinishes” – do it when I can. But I want to use it to explore my grandma’s recipes and preserve them. Document them for family & friends. Every recipe card says who she got them from, and sometimes that name goes back 3 generations from her.

That’s lunch sorted! This is turning into something of a feast with you and Miss B showing the way. It’s only 10:30 am here and I’m already hungry after watching that. But for sure all will be lost unless I can get one of those hats!
