I’ve been working on a fun mashup for tomorrow, so today’s post is just sharing a moment out of my video archives – footage that never made it to a vlog post. It’s from hanging out with dear friends at beautiful Junipine – a nice place to stay in Sedona, AZ. You can hear Oak Creek rushing by below us. We were trying to make a blue jay explode by giving it unlimited almonds. It knew when to quit, though.

blue jays can explode from nuts? I knew about Pop Rocks but nuts?
I must say I’m a little disappointed in the lack of explosion!
But I do applaud the effort.
Where is Sedona? Doesn’t look much like the AZ I know…
Do not mess with blue jays. They can smite their enemies with ease.
Punk bird! We don’t have them in England (Blue Jays, not birds in general – we have birds, in fact they are said to be making something of a come back). That’s some nice nature you’ve got going on there. I want nature. Brighton sucks.
How’d I miss this one?
Absolutely beautiful bird. I’m a bit of a bird fanatic. I hung out with golden eagles, falcons and eagle owls in Scotland for a while when I was 18. Ah, days of freedom.
We get jays [Garrulus glandarius] in most parts of the UK, except northern parts of Scotland, and they do possess a bit of blue [see: http://tinyurl.com/32kuq8 ]. And have similar characteristics.
With the flow of that creek it sounds like a blissful place.
